This e-guide includes four beautiful dress designs, each drafted from a basic bodice pattern. Choose from two fitted styles, including a chic pencil dress with pleated side panel details and a stunning halter neck dress with a decorated neckpiece. Or opt for one of two looser fit styles: a versatile cape dress (which can also be made without the cape) or a classic mock-wrap dress with gathers and a flounce detail. You can make it either with or without the flutter sleeves.
These dresses can be adapted to any length you prefer.
While making these patterns, you’ll also learn about slits and how to line dresses.
The patterns in this e-guide work best with materials like crepe de chine, chiffon, silk Mikado, and shantung, but you can also experiment with simpler fabrics to make these dresses your own.
Due to the complexity of some of the dress details, and also the complexity of fitting the dresses, this Patternmaking Guide is classified as “Intermediate” in difficulty. It will be accompanied by the Basic Bodice Block -guide.
